To Renew - To Build - To Empower!

Participants of all ages and faiths benefit from the remarkable year-round programs offered by Crestfield both onsite, and throughout Allegheny County. Participants come from many communities-suburban, urban and rural-and together they learn the value of diversity, acceptance and reconciliation.

“Summer camp is my time to take a break from the world and have a sabbath”

Marissa Matecka
2010 summer camper

In an age when much time is spent on the computer, in front of the television, playing video games and texting on the telephone, Crestfield provides the participant the opportunity to come together with other communities while enjoying God’s creation.

Unique Summer Activities

Crestfield’s summer programming is composed of eight weeks of residential camping geared toward both elementary aged children and teens. Daily activities such as swimming, canoeing, and Bible Study provide campers with opportunities to overcome challenges, learn leadership and improve their self-confidence. Combined with this is the opportunity to experience, understand and participate in environmental education, including developing the skill of participating in gardening. These are valuable life skills and a connection with nature that is much needed in a technologically focused culture.

A sampling of innovative summer programs include:

  • Young Adults with Special Needs - A resident camp experience including therapeutic horseback riding
  • Offsite Daycamp - Daily sessions of mentoring, creative arts and educational classes held in Allegheny County
  • Mission Camps - Middle and high school students receive an opportunity to provide community service to non-profit organizations throughout Western Pennsylvania
  • Little Ones & Loved Ones - An opportunity for Children 3-7 years old to come to camp with an adult family member
  • American Diabetes Association – Summer camp that provides the only program of its kind in Western Pennsylvania for 130 diabetic children and youth

Year Round Activities

Crestfield sponsors, organizes and implements specific programing throughout all four seasons.

  • Off-Site After School Programs - Provide weekly sessions of fun and leadership mentoring for all ages, often with at risk populations
  • Quilting Weekends - Give opportunities to rest, relax and be creative
  • Older Adult Mid-week retreats - Allow time for fun and discussions about aging issues
  • Mother/Daughter and Father/Son - Grant quality time together to grow in faith and as a family
  • Family Camps and Reunions – Permit opportunities to reminisce and enjoy one another
  • Middle and High School Retreats - Mix fun, learning and community service work
  • Harvest Day - An annual celebration that gives the community an opportunity to enjoy the fall
