Quilting Retreat

November 4-6, 2011

Ah! Take some time for rest, for reflection and most importantly, QUILTING! Rev. Brenda Barnes will be leading the retreat as we work on quilts and scripture study focussed around Matthew 5:1-12.

This year the quilt project will be a Blessings Quilt that relates back to the scripture of Matthew 5:1-12, the Beatittudes.

The quilting experience will be surrounded by times of intentional Bible Study and worship, plenty of community, and of course meals that you won't have to cook or clean up afterwards (which leaves more time for quilting)!

You are invited to bring material for the weekend project (please see supply list) or bring your own projects to work on. This is your time for sabbath and rest.

Have you quilted a lot, or never before? Just a curiosity for quilting is the only the requirement, though we should say, a sewing machine is highly recommended!

Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.

He said:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Matthew 5:1-12
